Prophecy & Blood

When the Spirit opens our eyes, we can see Jesus throughout the entire Bible.

The first reference that we receive for his future death on the cross and resurrection is found in Genesis 3:15, which says,

15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.”

The Bible translators help us a little by capitalizing the pronoun, “He,” which always indicates in the Bible that God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit is being referenced.

There is also a hint here about how Jesus will come into the world, by a woman, “her seed.”

And finally, we know that Jesus’ death on the cross appeared to be a victory for Satan.  It appeared that Jesus received a “bruise…on the head,” but upon His resurrection from the dead, it was clear that what appeared to be a death blow, was nothing more than a bruise on His heel.

Later in Genesis chapter 3, in verse 21, we have another hint as to what is required for the forgiveness of sins,

21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.

In the beginning, the Lord God Himself made the first blood sacrifices in order to put the sins of Adam and Eve on hold in anticipation of the day that the great blood sacrifice of Jesus would forever forgive those sins.

The Lord gave us a shadow of the blood sacrifice of Jesus in the very beginning and just as God clothed Adam and Eve then, today He clothes all believers with Jesus.  Galatians 3:26-27 says,

26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Praise be to God for assuring us in every book of the Bible of our salvation through Jesus!

Much love!
