Fun with 2024!

As is our annual tradition, let’s have some fun in anticipation of 2024 by looking at all the books of the Bible that have twenty chapters and twenty-four verses – maybe one will particularly stand out to you.

Exodus 20:24 You shall make an altar of earth for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you.

Leviticus 20:24 Hence I have said to you, “You are to possess their land, and I Myself will give it to you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the Lord your God, who has separated you from the peoples.

Numbers 20:24 “Aaron will be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter the land which I have given to the sons of Israel, because you rebelled against My command at the waters of Meribah.

Judges 20:24 Then the sons of Israel came against the sons of Benjamin the second day.

1 Samuel 20:24 So David hid in the field; and when the new moon came, the king sat down to eat food.

2 Samuel 20:24 and Adoram was over the forced labor, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder;

1 Kings 20:24 Do this thing: remove the kings, each from his place, and put captains in their place,

2 Chronicles 20:24 When Judah came to the lookout of the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude, and behold, they were corpses lying on the ground, and no one had escaped.

Job 20:24 “He may flee from the iron weapon, But the bronze bow will pierce him.

Proverbs 20:24 Man’s steps are ordained by the Lord, How then can man understand his way?

Ezekiel 20:24 because they had not observed My ordinances, but had rejected My statutes and had profaned My sabbaths, and their eyes were on the idols of their fathers.

Matthew 20:24 And hearing this, the ten became indignant with the two brothers.

Luke 20:24 “Show Me a denarius. Whose likeness and inscription does it have?” They said, “Caesar’s.”

John 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

Acts 20:24 But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.

As usual, there’s a good mix of great verses that speak for themselves along with verses that have no discernable meaning by themselves. One of the best things we can all do in 2024 is read all of the verses of the Bible.  I highly encourage you to bring any verses to me that you find particularly difficult to understand so we can look at them together!  It’s one of my favorite things to do.

Much love and Happy New Year!
