Don’t Miss the Point

Tonight, we are having a chili cookoff fellowship!

After typing that sentence, I suddenly realize that I skipped lunch and fear I will soon be drooling.  Also, after typing that first sentence, I immediately said in my heart, “Praise the Lord!” and remembered James 1:17, which says, 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above…

I don’t think James necessarily had chili in mind when he wrote that, but I think Solomon would’ve agreed with my sentiment.  After all, Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 2:24-25, 24 There is nothing better for a man than to eat and drink and tell himself that his labor is good. This also I have seen that it is from the hand of God. 25 For who can eat and who can have enjoyment without Him?

I’m so glad that Solomon explained that in this life it doesn’t get better than eating and enjoying ourselves with God.  The key there not being the eating and enjoyment, but eating and enjoying ourselves WITH GOD.

So, we invite you to come and join us tonight.  Don’t miss the point.  The point is not the competition.  The point is not even the food.  The point is the fellowship.

Much Love!
