Have you ever wanted to grow more spiritually, but didn’t know quite where to begin? Jesus can help!
In John 17:17, in the midst of Jesus’ prayer to the Father, in reference to His followers, He says:
17 Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
Jesus understood that there was nothing better when it came to the sanctification of His followers, than the Word of God. Sanctification, again, is just a fancy word for spiritual growth, or growing in holiness, but it’s a good word to know and remember because the Bible uses it a lot in reference to Jesus’ followers.
The Word of God has the power, unlike any other resource at our disposal to cleanse us of wrong doing and thinking, to mature us and to serve as a guide as we attempt to navigate the lives that God has given us.
When we learn from the Word of God and, just as important, apply what we have learned, we will distinguish ourselves from the ways and thinking of the world around us, and when done in humility, shine the light of Jesus like a light on a hill.
