2020 Honduras Mission Trip

This year Rex, Nathan and me are going to Honduras on a week-long mission trip.  This will be Nathan’s first year, Rex’s second and my eighth.

What do we do there?  We work with a Honduran mission organization called Predisan.  There are a few areas of service.  One is called latrine projects.  Basically, we build outhouses for families that live in the remotest part of Honduras.

Second, we host a soccer clinic for the children of the local school in the community that we’re working in.  In the soccer clinic, we teach about Jesus while also teaching technical soccer skills.  The soccer clinic is ran by one of my best friends, Weston Roberts, who is a high school soccer coach at Regent Preparatory in Tulsa.

Third, we visit homes in the communities we work in, teach about Jesus in the local school, have Bible studies, and teach and preach at the local church on both Sunday and Wednesday.  Every year that I’ve been a part of the mission I have been privileged to preach at the Sunday and Wednesday church services.

Every year we go, we discover even more unique needs and help wherever possible.  The need is tremendous and the workers are few.  Or as Jesus put it in Matthew 9:37,

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”

Would you like to support this mission?  Here’s how you can.  Rex, Nathan and I each have to raise $1,500.  The trip cost is actually more, but The Park Church of Christ in Tulsa (my former church) pays for all additional costs.  The $1,500 that we pay is primarily for our airfare.

Other than donations, we can also use soccer balls.  We take soccer balls for the soccer clinic and then give them all away at the end of the week.  To many of the children in the community, the soccer ball we give them is the nicest present they’ve ever received.

We take Adidas brand soccer balls from Academy Sports & Outdoors.  The ones we buy are size 5 and range in price from $10 to $13 each.  Also, if you want us to buy ball on your behalf, we’re glad to do so.

Last, but certainly not least, we covet your prayers before and during the trip.  It’s a hard trip, so we request prayers for personal safety and no illness.  We request prayers that God will give us a multitude of opportunities to share the gospel with as many people as possible.

Thanks so much for your love and support and for doing your part to fulfill Jesus’ “Great Commission” from Matthew 28:18-20:

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Much Love,

Wes, Nathan and Rex
