The Return of Jesus

There’s so much bad news, I thought I would share some good news: Jesus is coming back!

I realize that this is no shocking revelation to you, but I do believe we should be thinking about it more, talking about it more, looking forward to it more and preparing for it more.

When I think about Jesus returning, the troubles of this world shrink significantly.  They’re still there, but not nearly as foreboding.

When I talk about Jesus returning, I am encouraged and others are encouraged.  There are any number of things we can talk about, but the return of Jesus to claim his own are among the very best topics of encouraging conversation.

When I look forward to Jesus returning, a peace and contentment washes over me.  It reminds me of the temporary nature of this world and everything in it, which helps me to not get too caught up in this world.

When I prepare for the return of Jesus, I strive with a greater zeal to live more deliberately – striving for a greater righteousness, choosing my words more wisely, and guarding my heart with a greater diligence.

How often do you consider his return?  If you want to boost your overall well-being this week, spend some time reflecting upon his return.  Read John 14:1-6, or better yet, commit it to memory –

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

Lord come quickly!

Much love,
