Focus on Jesus

One thing that the Apostles of Jesus learned to do, eventually, was to focus on Jesus.  We remember back to the hard lesson that began to be learned by Peter and the Apostles when Peter attempted to walk to Jesus on the water (see Matthew 14).

Peter didn’t just attempt to walk on the water, he actually did.  But Matthew 14:30 tells us, 30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”

Why did Peter begin to sink?  He got scared when he looked around.  Lesson learned: If you focus on Jesus, you will have supreme confidence, but start to look around and worry, you’ll begin to sink!

In our study of the Book of Acts, we see Peter and the Apostles no longer looking around and worrying, but living and teaching and preaching with a boldness we never would have dreamed possible after observing their actions in the accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

We see them, not sinking, but walking with the power and authority of Jesus Himself.

How many of us have dared to live our lives with the boldness of Christ and His Apostles?  How many of us when confronted with lies fix our minds on Jesus and have the power then to speak truth?

Or do we look around and begin to fear what will happen if we are so bold?

As we continue to study the Book of Acts, be encouraged by the Apostles.  If you are timid, remember they once were too.  Cling to Jesus as they did and be strengthened in your faith and confidence.

Much love!
