Would you like to receive a unique blessing from the Lord? The reason I say, “unique” is because we have all received blessings from the Lord and most people I know would say that they are already very blessed.
But what I’m talking about are the blessings that God reserves for his people when they take advantage of opportunities set before them.
After all, there are many works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them (Ephesians 2:10b).
But the problem is and has ever been, that most people don’t want to do what is set before them. See Moses, Gideon, Jonah, etc.
Thomas Edison famously said, “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like hard work.” And I would ague that this is especially true of work that the Lord has prepared for us.
For instance, those currently seeking opportunities to be blessed by the Lord – and also to bless your church family – will have an opportunity to do so on the 10th and 17th of this month (and possibly more days than that), by volunteering to help tear up carpet or paint in a hallway or classroom.
It’s not the most exciting of opportunities on the surface, but I’ve learned from experience that some of the most mundane seeming things that I’ve volunteered to do have resulted in the Lord blessing me in unexpected ways.
Jesus often gave seemingly ordinary tasks to His disciples to complete, but they were always things that needed to be done and they worked together toward the furtherance of His Kingdom, God’s glory and the character building of His followers.
So, let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary (Galatians 6:9).
For our good and His glory!
