Don’t Be Bored – Think Differently

Don’t Be Bored – Think Differently

What do we do in these last chapters of the Book of Acts when there is so much repetition regarding the themes and principles laid out in the text?

One response would be to say, “We’ve already heard this,” which is really to say, “I don’t need to hear this again.”  But what if we’re wrong?

Consider this – We may have heard similar points before.  We may even understand the points very well.  But has that knowledge traveled that extremely long distance from our head to our heart?  That’s the question.

Because it truly does not matter how well we understand a principle if we have not applied that principle.  If there’s no application, there will be no change in our thinking and behavior.

What if there are many themes repeated to help us do just that?

If you are like me, you won’t learn something the first time you hear it.  I need time to process information.  To mull it over.  To chew on it mentally.  To apply the information to multiple life situations and to look at other instances throughout the Bible that the same principles apply.

It is typically only after I have had time to think and pray and process that I then can ask myself the question, “How will my life look different when I make a practical application of this information.”  After asking that very important question, I am then confronted by a faith dilemma.  If I believe what God’s Word says, I will either live in disobedience by not doing as I have been instructed, or I will do something to apply that teaching.

To follow Jesus, I must apply His Word.  It must change me.

I never want to hear the words of Jesus from Luke 6:46, which say, 46 “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?

As we continue to follow the story of the Apostle Paul, let us pay even closer attention to those themes and principles that are repeated in his story.  When the Lord speaks, we must pay attention.  When the Lord repeats Himself, pay extra attention!

Much love to my Christian family!
