Have You Ever Noticed?

Have you ever been discouraged when trying to understand difficult Biblical teachings?  Don’t be discouraged!  You are not defective.  Not all things are easily grasped.

Have you ever noticed that even the Apostle Peter wrote in 2 Peter 3:15-16, in reference to the teaching of the Apostle Paul, he said,

15…our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand

As we approach a new study of the Book of Romans, let us approach the text remembering that it is inspired by God, that it was written for the good of the church, and that the Holy Spirit is in the business helping us to understand what we otherwise cannot understand without His help, chiefly, the Scriptures.

This wonderful letter from Paul was not meant to be confusing or discouraging.  It was meant to do all of the things that all Scripture does – teach, reprove, correct and train in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16), and this for the purpose of doing every good work (2 Timothy 3:17).

Don’t be discouraged by a new study, be excited!  Couple that enthusiasm with a constant begging of the Holy Spirit to help us with our understanding so that our knowledge of the Word and application thereof will honor God in all we do and speak.

Happy studies!
