As a teacher of the Bible, a promise of God that I cling to is found in Isaiah 55:10-11

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; 11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Did you catch God’s wording: My word…My mouth…will not return to Me…what I desire…I sent

My responsibility is to share and explain the contents of the God’s word.  It is not my responsibility to try to make it somehow more appealing, or to add anything to it, or to take anything away from it. It is not mine, it belongs to God.  God assures me that just as rain waters seeds and causes them to grow to produce bread for physical sustenance, His word, likewise, when planted in the heart of its hearers, will provide spiritual sustenance.  It will do exactly what He has designed it to do, just as rain and seed and bread do what they were designed to do.

As we continue our study of Matthew, I urge you to think about and meditate upon the passages we’ve covered so far knowing that if we are receptive, God will change us – He will accomplish what He desires.  What He desires most is for us to put our in faith Jesus and then, by the work of His word, be transformed into the likeness of Jesus.
